Admission Process: Step by Step

At ISAD, we believe that the admission process should be transparent and straightforward, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: your passion for design. The first step is to prepare your application documents. For all programs, you will need to submit a completed application form, a copy of your identity document, and a curriculum vitae. Depending on the course, additional materials such as a portfolio, a motivational letter, or proof of language proficiency may be required. Once your documents are ready, send them via email to . Our admissions team will review your submission and contact you within a few working days to schedule an interview, if necessary.

The interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you better, understand your aspirations, and ensure that the program aligns with your goals. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions about the curriculum, facilities, or student life. After the interview, you will receive a formal admission decision. If accepted, you will be guided through the enrollment process, which includes signing the enrollment agreement and paying the tuition fee. We recommend applying early, as places are limited and admissions are processed on a rolling basis.

Required Documents for Each Program

To help you prepare your application, here is a detailed list of the documents required for each type of course. Please note that all documents must be submitted in PDF format, and any documents not in Italian or English must be accompanied by a certified translation.

If you have any doubts about which documents to submit, do not hesitate to contact our admissions office. We are here to help you through every step of the process.

Tuition Fees and Payment Options

ISAD offers competitive tuition fees that reflect the quality of education and the resources provided. While exact figures vary by program, we strive to make our courses accessible. The tuition fee covers all lectures, studio access, basic materials, and use of the school's facilities. Additional costs may include specialized software, field trips, and personal project materials. Detailed fee schedules are available upon request and are provided in the enrollment agreement.

We understand that financing your education is an important consideration. Therefore, ISAD offers flexible payment plans, allowing you to pay in installments. A deposit is required upon enrollment to secure your place, with the balance payable according to the agreed schedule. We also encourage you to explore external funding opportunities, such as scholarships, grants, and student loans. For more information on scholarships offered directly by ISAD, please visit our Scholarship page. Additionally, our Admission page provides further details on the enrollment process.

International Students and Visa Support

ISAD welcomes students from all over the world, and we are committed to making your transition to Milan as smooth as possible. If you are a non-EU student, you may need to apply for a student visa. We recommend starting the visa application process as soon as you receive your admission letter, as it can take several weeks. Our admissions team can provide you with the necessary documentation, including an official enrollment certificate and a letter of acceptance, to support your visa application.

Once in Milan, you will need to apply for a residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) within eight days of arrival. Our student services office can guide you through this process and help you with other practical matters, such as finding accommodation, opening a bank account, and obtaining a tax code (codice fiscale). We also organize orientation sessions at the beginning of each academic year to help international students settle in and meet their peers.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

ISAD believes that talent should not be limited by financial constraints. That is why we offer a range of scholarships and financial aid options to support deserving students. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, portfolio quality, and financial need. Some scholarships cover partial tuition, while others may cover the full cost of the program. To be considered for a scholarship, you must submit your application by the specified deadline and indicate your interest in the scholarship section of the application form.

In addition to ISAD scholarships, there are external funding opportunities available from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors. Our financial aid office can help you identify suitable options and assist with the application process. For more detailed information on available scholarships, eligibility criteria, and application deadlines, please visit our Borse di Studio page. We encourage you to apply early, as scholarship funds are limited and awarded on a competitive basis.
